Joshua had fun watching the girls and looking at all the rides. He was pretty fascinated by everything there, but he was still a little small for the rides they had open at this event.
They had a free fishing booth open for the kids to catch trout. Eva caught about 5 but each of them broke off the hook before she could reel them in.
Breanna had a little better luck and caught hers pretty quickly.
It was a pretty good size one and they let the kids bring them home to cook up and eat if they wanted to. My kids normally hate fish but wanted to bring them home, so I told them if they did then they would have to learn how to gut them and they would have to eat them.
Eva got a good size one too and wanted to bring hers home also. I did end up making them watch me gut the fish and let them touch the teeth and eyeballs which they thought was so cool. I also helped them identify all the guts which they thought was totally gross but very interesting. They did try some of the trout after I cooked it, but didn't care for it very much. Joshua loved it though and so did Jason.
I couldn't resist getting a bag full of scones. Even though I can't have them because of the special diet I am on for my Leaky Gut Syndrome, I enjoyed smelling them and watching the kids enjoy them. I let Joshua have a bite, even though he is not suppose to have them either because they have soy in them and because of his G6PD(enzyme deficiency) he is not suppose to have any legumes. Fava beans are the worst for him but other legumes can also be problematic if he has them too much or too often, so I just try to avoid them altogether. He sure did love that bite though.
